Off the trail - The First 40 Miles

Hello fellow outdoorists!

I hope you are all doing well and are able to get outside. We were up in Sudbury a few months ago. We did not end up on a trail but we did use our snowshoes on an unbeaten path that goes behind the house where we stay and other yards. We did not go for long as the children tired quickly in the deep snow, but it was still nice to get out. The weather was fantastic.

As you can see from the post name, today I will be doing a second instalment of Off the trail and introduce you (or remind you of) The First 40 Miles. Today, I will be writing about a podcast I discovered a few months back. The hosts are Heather Legler and Josh Legler. They designed their logo themselves using one of Josh's photos and Heather overlaying her own graphics.

Right now, they have 182 episodes... I am not halfway done... haha I started from their first episode and I'm working my way to newer ones. I also only recently discovered that they have bloopers at the end of the episodes! I didn't know because once the end music started, I'd click on the next episode instead of waiting for it to start on its own. Until I didn't get to it and there the bloopers were. From now on, I will let it autoplay so that I can hear these fun additions.

They both have great voices for a podcast and know how to share their knowledge. They also seem to have a very organic style of conversation and have a fountain of information to share. I would say that Heather is more "in charge" and Josh assists her, but I'm not trying to say they have specific roles. It feels like a very even team. When it comes to certain topics, such as photography, Heather lets Josh take the lead as he's more known as the photographer between the two.

They sometimes also have their children weigh in on certain topics and the show itself is very family friendly.

If you are interested in learning anything about hiking, backpacking, camping, etc., I highly recommend listening to their podcasts. You can also find them on Twitter and Facebook.

Do you have any podcasts regarding the outdoors that you enjoy? Please feel free to share them below.

Well, that's about it for this entry. Hope you enjoyed it. Come back soon to see where we roam next.
