Hiking at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area
Hello,
For this post, I will take you along our hour and a half long hike at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area, in Milton, Ontario.
A couple weekends ago, Ron, Zoé and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and go for a good hike. We usually use a stroller with Zoé, but since we (sadly) didn't have Brock, which let's be honest, we probably wouldn't have been able to do the trail we did with him, we decided that we should wear Zoé. Unfortunately we didn't have a carrier that works for her weight but happily my sister who lives nearby still had the ergo baby carrier she used for both her kids! It's great to have family and hand-me downs. Seriously!
So, fill up a few water bottles, grab a few cliff bars and granola bars to have as snacks on the trail, throw on our hiking shoes and off we go! To get into Rattlesnake Point, it costs $6.75 per adult. Zoé being 2, was free.
Now we ended up being on the trail for about an hour and a half, and didn't plan our timing very well as it cut right into lunch and ended at Zoé's usual nap time. Oops. She did well though. She walked for a bit at the beginning as we were still on the easier part of the trail. I do believe from where we started both the trails (Buffalo Crag Trail and Nassagaweya Trail) are indeed combined. One we reached the Nassagaweya Canyon Lookout though, we put her on my back so that we could actually walk along the part of the Bruce Trail that cuts through this conservation area. This means going up and down VERY rocky parts and skinny parts of the trail right next to a very steep slope. We loved it. It was great to really feel more in nature. Not that we don't enjoy our hikes on the easier trails, but it just makes you feel that much more connected to nature when you have to work a bit harder and not have as many signs of human activity.
We had a great time. This is a conservation area that I have visited many, many times and I am sure we will be visiting for a long time to come.
I think that covers it for this entry. I hope you enjoyed this short visit to our latest hike and will come visit again soon to see where else we will roam.
